In the early 1990s the inventor of Pisa Liqueur took a romantic vacation with his wife in the Tuscan countryside. While enjoying the fantastic views, scenery and each other, they opted to capture that moment forever.
Instead of capturing memories with a camera, the creator, who had experience as a distiller, came up with the idea of creating this fine liqueur and dedicating it to the area and city where they had their vacation.
An all natural blood-red liqueur made from more than 90 herbs, spices, fruits and berries, the guarded formula for Killepitsch is a recipe of the Busch family, distillers from Dusseldorf, dating back to 1858. The name “Killepitsch” came from Willi Busch who while in an air-raid shelter during the Second World War, promised to toast new beginnings with his friend Hans Müller-Schlösser if they survived. The message to his friend was “If they don’t ‘KILL’ us now, we will have a chance to ‘PITSCH’“ (local vernacular for drink), creating the name “Killepitsch.”
